It's The Final Countdown – Some New Years Resolutions For Thought

img2Society has changed and yet, our resolutions haven’t. Ever since people started making new years resolutions, we’ve been promising ourselves the same things: “eat healthier”, “go to the gym more”, “be a better person”, “stop embarrassing myself at work functions”.

But none of these resolutions seem to reflect the times. So if you’re sick of making the same old promises that you never keep, why not try out some of these resolutions.

1.Before you facebook, Tweet, Tumble or Instagram something, ask yourself, “Is it absolutely necessary that I share this with the rest of the world?” If the answer is “No, it absolutely is not” then maybe… just don’t.

2.Before you look up a fact on your phone, try and remember it using your brain. This is what it was like in the olden days.

3.Try that food you think you don’t like but have never actually tried. Unless it’s brussels sprouts. They don’t need any more attention.

4.Stop liking the Kardashians. Stop disliking the Kardashians. Stop anything involving the Kardashians. It’s not helping anyone, least of all the Kardashians.

5.Enough with the 14-day juice cleanses. If you want to lose weight, eat healthy food and exercise like crazy. Don’t go to the gym and then reward yourself with a slice of mud cake afterwards.

6.Buy an actual CD this year and listen to it on a CD player. It’s retro. Like Downton Abbey.

7.Stop sending emails that just say “thanks”. They’re annoying and they clog up inboxes. In fact, don’t send any emails that you wouldn’t send if you had to actually buy a stamp and mail it.

8.Call someone on the telephone and speak to them for at least ten minutes.

9.Tell someone you love that you love them on a more regular basis. To their face, not in a text.

10.Buy a newspaper. Do it, they need you.
